Cambridge Summer School 2017

Image
At the end of the summer term at school, an email was sent around Year 11 about the opportunity to go on a free residential summer school at Cambridge University. It was what is called a "Low Participation Neighbourhood" summer school, which means that your postcode determines whether you can go- it monitors the level of people from your postcode who go to university. I applied quickly but didn't find out I had been accepted until a fair few weeks afterwards when I was on holiday in Cyprus (see my Cyprus blog posts for more on that)! When applying, I had to choose 3 subjects that I would be interested in studying. I chose History, English and Law and when I received the email to say I had got a place, I found out I would be on the History course, which I was super happy about, as that was my first choice!  The first day of the summer school quickly rolled around. On the drive up to Cambridge, I watched Lilo and Stitch, my favourite Disney movie. The journey went surpri...

Cyprus (again?!?) Part 2

I bet you're wondering why I'm making ANOTHER Cyprus blog post! Well, as I mentioned in the last one, we tend to go to Cyprus as a family most years, so Dad decided to book a Cyprus holiday for the 5 of us (mum, dad, me, Charlie and Alex) for later on in the summer. The show was a variety of musical theatre songs, and I had my first-ever solo, which was "Ireland" from Legally Blonde!  What was crazy was the fact that I hadn't had time to pack yet, so once I got home from the show at about 10:30 pm (I had to skip the after-show party as we had to be up at 6 am the next morning), I had to ...

Review: Miss Alice Makes (Etsy)

Disclaimer: I was provided with free products in return for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed herein are purely my own. Recently, I received some gorgeous items from Miss Alice Makes, an Etsy shop owner who makes handmade Disney-inspired items, such as coasters, plaques, signs and reworked denim jackets. I was lucky enough to receive a coaster, plaque and sign, all personalised to include my favourite Disney movies and characters, aka. Merida, Tinkerbell, Alice In Wonderland and Toy Story.   I can't praise Brittany from Miss Alice Makes enough for her exceptional customer service. It can be quite strange, as a blogger, when people offer you products, but Brittany put me at ease and made the conversations feel like we had been friends for a long time, through simple means, such as asking me about my day and having a legitimate interest in how my summer was going.  It took about 3 weeks, from our first conversation, until I received the item...
