|| Album Review || "For You, For Me" by Louise Dearman
Hi! I thought I'd try out something new today- an album review! Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a huge fan of musical theatre, so when my sister told me that Louise Dearman had released a new album, I just HAD to listen to it!!
If you don't already know, Louise Dearman is a British actress and singer, and the only person to ever have played the roles of both Elphaba and Glinda in the hit musical "Wicked"! A phenomenal powerhouse, she is also known for playing Eva Peron in Evita. I was lucky enough to meet Louise in August 2013, when she was playing Elphaba in Wicked:
Anyway, onto the music! The album has 11 tracks, including hits from La La Land, Hamilton and Waitress. Of course, all of the songs are amazing, but I've picked out a few of my favourites below:
Track 4, Burn, is one of my favourites. Not surprising, really, considering my profound love for Hamilton! I love the addition of the electric guitar and the powerful vocal riffs that Louise has added.
I also love Track 5, Don't Forget Me, from the TV series SMASH. I have adored this song since we did it in choir last year, so I was bound to fall in love with Louise's version! And those huge notes towards the end... WOW!!!
Track 9 is also amazing- She Used to be Mine from Waitress. I first heard this song on Rachel Tucker's album, On the Road and I just think that it is such a beautiful song. Rachel and Louise are great friends, so I find it awesome that they have both covered this song on their albums.
The whole tracklist is as follows:
1) "A Piece of Sky" (from the musical film Yentl)
2) "City of Stars" feat. Nick Afoa (from the musical film La La Land)
3) "Easy as Life" (from the musical Aida)
4) "Burn" (from the musical Hamilton)
5) "Don't Forget Me" (from the musical TV series SMASH)
6) "I Will Never Leave You" feat. Laura Pitt-Pulford (from the musical Side Show)
7) "With You" (from the musical Ghost)
8) "Beautiful" (from Beautiful- the Carole King musical)
9) "She Used to be Mine" (from the musical Waitress)
10) "Time Heals Everything" (from the musical Mack and Mabel"
11) "Who Will Love Me as I Am" feat. Laura Pitt-Pulford (from the musical Side Show)
