Spontaneous London Trip

Hi! Currently, here in the UK, it is the Easter holidays. This means that I have no school for 2 weeks!!! So, on Tuesday evening, we (my family and I) decided to take a spontaneous trip somewhere the next day, choosing London in the end. London is about a 3-hour drive from where I live, so we set off at 7:30 am on Wednesday morning.

Of course, what early-morning road trip is complete without a McDonald's breakfast? I always get a sausage and egg McMuffin, hash brown and an orange juice- what do you get? Comment down below!

Being a theatre kid, I made sure to enter the TodayTix lotteries on the way. What do you mean, "what's TodayTix?"?!?  Basically, it's an app that can get you the best deals on theatre tickets worldwide. In addition to that, you can enter daily lotteries for certain shows, where, if you win, you get front-row seats for just £15-20! I entered the lotteries for Dreamgirls, Kinky Boots and Everybody's Talking About Jamie, and OMG I WON!!! I won the Dreamgirls lottery, which meant that for just £40 in total, my sister and I got front-row seats to see Dreamgirls, which is at the Savoy Theatre. But, back to that later...

First, we went to the V&A museum, which is somewhere I've wanted to visit for ages! They always have a plethora of fascinating exhibitions. I especially loved the fashion exhibit, where I saw pieces by Coco Chanel as well as an awesome collection of 80s fashion. I could have spent all day in the V&A- we didn't see even a fraction of what was on offer in the 2 hours we spent there. At this point, we split up. Mum, Dad and Alex went to the National Army Museum, whilst Charlie and I headed for the Strand to see Dreamgirls. We were a bit early, so we grabbed some lunch before going to the theatre.

Honestly, the Savoy Theatre is so beautiful! It has 3 levels, with a beautiful mural of the sky decorating the ceiling. Sitting in the front row for a show is something I've never done before and it was so cool! The view was great- so clear, in fact, that you could see the sweat falling off the performers' foreheads as they danced! Also, you could see into the orchestra pit and see the conductor, too, without it obstructing your view of the show.

Dreamgirls was never on my list of the shows I really wanted to see, but now that I've seen it, I love it! The music is soulful and inspiring, the performers are amazing and the costumes are gorgeous. And £20 was an absolute bargain! When the show finished, we rushed to Stage Door, where we met a lovely ensemble member- the talented Samira Mighty.

After the show, we met up with Mum, Dad and Alex in Leicester Square. For tea, we went to MOD Pizza, which is my favourite pizza place in London. For just £7.87, you can get a large pizza with as many toppings on as you want. And unlimited drinks are just £2-something!

It was a loooong day, so we took a taxi after dinner, to the car park underneath Hyde Park, where we had parked our car that morning. After a great day, we finally got home at about 11pm.
