Winter has dragged on FOREVER this year. Seriously. I'm all for winter, and the dreary weather that comes with it, until it hits New Year. Over the Christmas season, it's nice to wrap up warm and wear lots of wintery layers. Add in the twinkling fairy lights everywhere you go and it's almost possible to imagine that you're in Santa's Grotto, or maybe New York (I hear Christmas in New York is something everyone should experience at least once in their lives). But then January comes and you realise there's no more chance of snow, just dismal rain and chilling wind. And when, like this year, it carries on all the way through February, it's just downright annoying. What's worse is that in my part of England, we're predicted even worse weather for the start of March- something to do with the Arctic, I think.
I JUST WANT IT TO BE SUMMER ALREADY! I'm longing for the evenings where it's still light at 8pm, where I can do my homework in the garden, where we can have BBQs and invite friends over. There just seems to be so many more hours in the day during summer.
Plus, 6 weeks off school is a massive bonus too! I hope I get to go to Cyprus with my family again this summer. I'm really lucky, having have got to go so many times in the past and I just love it so much there. I think it's something to do with knowing you won't be cold (until you start climbing the mountains, but that's a story for another day!) and the amazing food! I love Greek/Cypriot food so much. We have one Greek restaurant locally and it's where I always choose to go for tea on my birthday. Their mezes are fantastic and so authentic. Cyprus' culture is so relaxed, too.
What I wish, right now, is that I was sat at Chrissie Blue's on Curium Beach, with a Lounza and Halloumi panini and a peach juice, looking out over the sea at sunset. But instead, I'm sat at home, writing this blog post and watching the Closing Ceremony of the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics. So, I'll leave you with some of my favourite Summer memories, in photograph form...
