How I Revise
Hey hey hey! It's that time of year again- yup, exam season is upon us once more... So, I thought I would write a quick post on the ways that I revise! Maybe it might help anyone who's stuck for ideas?
Ok, so first up- Flashcards. I currently use revision cards to learn facts for all three of my subjects (History, Geography and Sociology). I write down a question on one side and the answer on the other. I find that this works best for dates (History), statistics (Geography) and studies (Sociology). I then go through a topic at a time, answering all the questions and sorting them into two piles- the ones I get right and the ones I don't. I then repeat this process again with the pile of ones I don't know, until I eventually learn them all! I also used this method to revise for several subjects at GCSE, such as History, Geography, RS and Science.
Second up is the method I used to revise for my English Literature GCSE last summer- Mindmaps. For poetry, I wrote down the annotations for each poem on a mindmap, along with their corresponding quote. Then, I tried to memorise them. From there, I attempted to recreate the mindmap (without peeking!), several times until I had remembered all the annotations. This method also worked for the books we had to study (Macbeth, Jane Eyre and Never Let Me Go)- I used it to learn the quotes and explanations for the main events.
Last but not least- Past Papers. I used these for most of my subjects at GCSE (except Art, obviously) because they are SO USEFUL. I think that the main subjects these helped with were Maths, Science and French. I found most of my exam papers on the exam board websites, where they are available for free download.
So, that's it I think! Short, not exactly sweet, but hopefully useful?! If you have found this helpful, feel free to comment below and don't forget to check out my Instagram page and YouTube channel (links in the banner above)
