Hi! I thought I'd try out something new today- an album review! Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a huge fan of musical theatre, so when my sister told me that Louise Dearman had released a new album, I just HAD to listen to it!!  If you don't already know, Louise Dearman is a British actress and singer, and the only person to ever have played the roles of both Elphaba and Glinda in the hit musical "Wicked"! A phenomenal powerhouse, she is also known for playing Eva Peron in Evita. I was lucky enough to meet Louise in August 2013, when she was playing Elphaba in Wicked:  Anyway, onto the music! The album has 11 tracks, including hits from La La Land, Hamilton and Waitress. Of course, all of the songs are amazing, but I've picked out a few of my favourites below: Track 4, Burn, is one of my favourites. Not surprising, really, considering my profound love for Hamilton! I love the addition of the electric guitar and the powerful vocal riffs that L...

How I Revise

Hey hey hey! It's that time of year again- yup, exam season is upon us once more... So, I thought I would write a quick post on the ways that I revise! Maybe it might help anyone who's stuck for ideas?  Ok, so first up- Flashcards. I currently use revision cards to learn facts for all three of my subjects (History, Geography and Sociology).  I write down a question on one side and the answer on the other. I find that this works best for dates (History), statistics (Geography) and studies (Sociology). I then go through a topic at a time, answering all the questions and sorting them into two piles- the ones I get right and the ones I don't. I then repeat this process again with the pile of ones I don't know, until I eventually learn them all! I also used this method to revise for several subjects at GCSE, such as History, Geography, RS and Science.  Second up is the method I used to revise for my English Literature GCSE last summer- Mindmaps. For poetry, I wrote...

Spontaneous London Trip

Image
Hi! Currently, here in the UK, it is the Easter holidays. This means that I have no school for 2 weeks!!! So, on Tuesday evening, we (my family and I) decided to take a spontaneous trip somewhere the next day, choosing London in the end. London is about a 3-hour drive from where I live, so we set off at 7:30 am on Wednesday morning.  Of course, what early-morning road trip is complete without a McDonald's breakfast? I always get a sausage and egg McMuffin, hash brown and an orange juice- what do you get? Comment down below!  Being a theatre kid, I made sure to enter the TodayTix lotteries on the way. What do you mean, "what's TodayTix?"?!?  Basically, it's an app that can get you the best deals on theatre tickets worldwide. In addition to that, you can enter daily lotteries for certain shows, where, if you win, you get front-row seats for just £15-20! I entered the lotteries for Dreamgirls, Kinky Boots and Everybody's Talking About Jamie, and OMG I WON!!!...

Reminiscing on Summer...

Winter has dragged on FOREVER this year. Seriously. I'm all for winter, and the dreary weather that comes with it, until it hits New Year. Over the Christmas season, it's nice to wrap up warm and wear lots of wintery layers. Add in the twinkling fairy lights everywhere you go and it's almost possible to imagine that you're in Santa's Grotto, or maybe New York (I hear Christmas in New York is something everyone should experience at least once in their lives). But then January comes and you realise there's no more chance of snow, just dismal rain and chilling wind. And when, like this year, it carries on all the way through February, it's just downright annoying. What's worse is that in my part of England, we're predicted even worse weather for the start of March- something to do with the Arctic, I think.  I JUST WANT IT TO BE SUMMER ALREADY! I'm longing for the evenings where it's still light at 8pm, where I can do my homework in the gard...

Just a little explanation before this post- this is a blog post from my first blog, Love.Live.Life. However, I have decided to solely focus on this blog from now on, so I am going to be moving those posts onto this blog, as well as my really old blog posts, back from when I was about 12 on my first blog, in a little series called applepip archives! This is the last of those, I hope you enjoy reading it :) The other day, my Geography teacher set us some homework:  I quite like Geography as a school subject, so when I got around to doing the homework, I was truly fascinating by what I found out! Here are just some of the many statistics that I found out, many of which are just so astonishing: 61 villagers would be Asian 14 villagers would be American 13 villagers would be African 12 villagers would be European 1 villager would be Oceanic 33 villagers would be Christian 19 villagers would be Muslim 13 villagers would be Hindu 6 villagers would be Buddhist ...

Just a little explanation before this post- this is my first ever blog post, which I wrote wayyyyy back when I was about 12, on my first blog, which was called Love.Live.Life. However, I have decided to solely focus on this blog from now on, so I am going to be moving those posts onto this blog, as well as my really old blog posts, back from when I was about 12 on my first blog, in a little series called applepip archives! This is the fifth of those, I hope you enjoy reading it :) Hey! This is my blog and this post is all about... My favourite Disney songs!  20) You'll Be In My Heart- Tarzan This song is so emotional and cute- I just love it! It definitely gives out a positive message about loving your family and although it may seem soppy it is an inspirational song :)  19) Reflection- Mulan Awww, Disney is great at having inspirational morals in their films and this song is all about just being yourself and standing up for what you think is right, so that is why I...

applepip archives: The Humans by Matt Haig BOOK REVIEW

Just a little explanation before this post- this is a book review I published in early 2017 on my other blog, Accio Books. However, I have decided to solely focus on this blog from now on, so I am going to be moving those posts onto this blog, as well as my really old blog posts, back from when I was about 12 on my first blog, in a little series called applepip archives! This is the fourth of those, I hope you enjoy reading it :) Published by Canongate Books in 2013, this is the 7th novel by British novelist and journalist Matt Haig. This review is of the paperback edition first published in 2014.  The first line of a book is often the most important- it is your first impression and sets the tone for the rest of the book. In this case, the first line is: "I  know that some of you reading this are convinced humans are a myth, but I am here to state that they do actually exist."  Just what the title suggests, really; that this is written from the point of view of som...
